Our Missions

Ang'iya - Kenya

Medical Mission Sisters Mien, Gaudencia and Christine work in a health programme providing basic health services in a remote rural area of Homa Bay, near Lake Victoria. They operate a small dispensary, offer child welfare and antenatal and midwifery services, and carry out voluntary testing and counselling for HIV/AIDS.
An outreach programme takes health services to the outlying villages, with home visits to patients with AIDS.
The sisters train community health workers, from among the people of surrounding villages, with classes on home treatment of common diseases, home nursing and the treatment of patients with AIDS.

St Clare Sewing School

A recent development in Ang’iya is the establishment of the St Clare Sewing School for young teenage mothers (aged between 14-18 years) who have had to drop out of school due to pregnancy.  The school aims to help the girls to learn sewing skills so that they can support themselves and their babies.  St Clare’s is a baby-friendly facility.  Breastfeeding is promoted so by coming to school with their babies, mothers can breastfeed on demand.
