Mission Appeals
Medical Mission Sisters are members of the Sisters' Mission Committee, which is composed of sisters from 16 missionary congregations. We give mission appeals at weekend masses in parishes in England and Wales throughout the year; all funds collected are put together and shared out equitably among the member congregations at the end of the year.
We appreciate the opportunity of getting to know the Church in England and Wales better - especially those of us who are from another part of the world or have spent a considerable time out of the country - and are grateful for the ongoing support and generosity of parishioners.

Appeals are made:
- to share our experience in mission
- to increase awareness of the responsibility of all Christians to be involved in mission, at home as well as overseas
- to ask for their financial support.
Most members of the congregations giving the appeals are unable, because of the kind of work they do, to earn adequate salaries to support themselves.
Save your used stamps
John Dixon and his ever patient wife Joan have been sorting and selling stamps on our behalf for almost 50 years. Their hard work has been an important source of funds. In 2013 alone, John and Joan raised £4,214!
You can read, in John's own words, how it all began back in the 1960's.
Now we have encountered a problem; the stamps have changed and the postage has changed. The ordinary 1st and 2nd class can no longer be soaked off envelopes and resold. So we are asking you to please stop sending them.
Also, packets of stamps can weigh very little but may be bulky. Since the post office now charges by weight and thickness of the parcel, John has had to pay excess postage on a lot of packages recently. If your package looks a bit thick (more than 25mm), could you please check it at your post office before sending.
Please do continue sending stamps to John, but only foreign and British commemorative - thank you.
